More about We Are Family

We Are Family (WAF) is a Southern grassroots nonprofit organization with a mission to provide affirming spaces for LGBTQI+ and ally youth up to the age of 24 through direct support, leadership development and community engagement. Founded in 1995 by Charleston resident Tom Myers, Tom recognized the lack of support his son experienced, saw the need for allies in the Lowcountry’s LGBTQI+ community and formed WAF.
