Palmetto Brewing Company Food & Friends Pop-Up Dinner Series with John Lewis

If you've been one of the few hundred waiting in line on Saturdays this past summer at Revelry Brewing for a taste of John Lewis' barbecue, you know it's well worth the wait. Ready to dine on five courses from the famed pit-master? Palmetto Brewing Company has your pork fix, launching its Food & Friends Pop-Up Dinner Series with Lewis before he debuts his brick-and-mortar spot on Huger Street later this year.


 

 

On Sunday, October 11, pitmaster John Lewis (of Austin’s La Barbecue ) will present his signature Central Texas style barbecue at Palmetto Brewing Company. The five-course meal features pairings from the brewery—look out for some special releases and the return of Ghost Rider. Lewis and Palmetto’s Certified Cicerone Collin Clark will guide discussion throughout the evening.

 

 

 

 

                               

The five-course menu will include:

 

 

Oyster with oak smoked garlic butter, chile, cheese

Paired with: Aftershock (dry-hopped California Common steam beer)

 

 

Salad with tomato, preserved lemon, barbecued shallot vinaigrette

Paired with: Charleston Lager

 

 

 

 

Pecan Smoked Duck Sausage with black currant, apple, cherry

Paired with: Ghost Rider (American Pale Ale brewed with local smoked ghost peppers and cherries)

 

 

 

Tongue + Tail - Beef tongue and oxtail with cipollini and tail jus

Paired with: Amber Ale

 

 

 

Hand-churned Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with toasted pine nuts, cajeta caramel

Paired with: Carolina Uncommon (A shandy-style Peach Basil Blonde Ale)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sunday, October 11, 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tickets are $80 a person and can be purchased in Palmetto Brewing Co.’s tasting room or over the phone during business hours. Palmetto will also offer a complimentary pint to anyone who purchases a ticket in the tasting room prior to the event.
