Living Vintage at Novel

I so look forward to stepping back into decades past this week at the “Living Vintage at Novel” event, a unique shopping experience created by two Charleston power girls Angie Hranowsky and Lauren Lail. Inspired by an iconic old photograph, these women have collaborated to combine vintage clothing, accessories, interiors, and textiles into an outstanding collection of vintage finds that you do not want to miss.

Hranowsky, recently named one of the top five new tastemakers of the South by Southern Living, is an interior designer known for her mix of vintage items and vibrant colors in both her designs and personal style. For “Living Vintage,” Hranowsky pulled from her own collection of textiles and furnishings, as well as from local business including Antiques of South Windermere, 17 South, John Pope Antiques, and ESD.

The clothing and accessories will be provided by Lail, a vintage curator for Library: Archives of Fashion—a traveling anthology of vintage finds showcased in Lail’s historic downtown Charleston home and at Novel. I grow a little weak thinking of Library’s collection of vintage Christian Dior, Gucci, Fendi, and Chanel. Lail hints that she and Hranowsky “both love the 70’s,” but that is all she would say of what will be featured at the event. My imagination is running wild with hopes of jersey wrap dresses, crop tops, oversized shades, and other items I am sure to covet.

After meeting at an event in 2010, Lail and Hranowksy have worked together on several projects, including the May issue of Southern Living, where Lail styled Hranowsky for the new tastemakers' shoot. With both ladies having such an enormous respect for and love of vintage style and design, “it only made sense for us to pair up, combine our similar tastes, show our collections, and create a unique shopping experience,” Lail says.

Expect to be awed and inspired by the rare and beautiful vintage pieces hand-picked by this stylish duo. Head to Novel, located at 341 King Street, on May 18 and 19 to be transported back in time with vintage-inspired cocktails, vignettes, and, of course—furnishings and clothes.

See you there!
