Consignment Find of the Year

Starting when I was young, my mother taught me the value of shopping at consignment stores and estate sales. You can find such amazing things for great prices. Over the years, I have found some good deals, but nothing tops what I scored a few weeks ago.

My mom and I stumbled across the Coleman Collection in Mount Pleasant about a year ago and have been regulars ever since. It's located in the Northcutt Plaza in Suite I (kind of in the alley right down from Southern Belles). The store is owned by three interior designers: Gretchen Rhodes, Martha Seay, and Jeannie Sparrow, and they get in some really fabulous things. Like all consignment shops, it's hit-or-miss but I promise that you will eventually find something in this shop if you keep at it.

I have always wanted an Eames Rocking Chair. I love the modern and sleek look of it, but the price tag? Not so much! So imagine my surprise when I was in the shop browsing a few weeks ago and stumbled upon this one for an insane price. I had a mini anxiety attack thinking, "Holy crap, why has this chair not been bought yet?" I then pulled myself together and quickly bought it... and laughed all the way home at the amazing deal I had just scored. If you're curious, I plan to use the chair in my son's new "big boy room" we are working on.

In case you are having trouble picturing this shapely beauty in a room, these are a few inspirational pictures I had saved for decorating purposes. You are drooling right? This chair completes me and my quest to find the perfect masculine, yet cool chair for my little man.

So, the moral of the story is: shop at your local consignment stores! You never know what treasures can you might find. A wise person once said "One man's trash is another man's treasure," and my Eames Rocker and I couldn't agree more!
